Marc Hoffmeister
Wounded Warrior Advisor
Lieutenant Colonel Marc Hoffmeister graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering
and was commissioned in the United States Army in the Corps of Engineers.
He has served in a variety of combat engineer units and deployed throughout the Middle East and Cuba
in support of combat and humanitarian operations. While serving as an embedded trainer for the Iraqi Army,
LTC Hoffmeister planned and executed numerous Battalion and Brigade level combined combat operations targeting insurgent forces in Babil Province,
providing direct combat advising to Iraqi commanders from platoon to Brigade level
during combat missions and time sensitive raids and developing a joint operational capability between
the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police until he was wounded in an IED attack in April 2007.
Despite long term injuries from his wounds, LTC Hoffmeister remains on active duty and is currently serving
as the Chief Engineer to Alaskan Command at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.
LTC Hoffmeister’s involvement in veteran’s organization began in 2002 when
he merged his passion for outdoor competitive endurance sports with an opportunity to recognize and honor our fallen heroes.
He created Team Veteran Leader Adventure Racing and competed with his team throughout the nation as well as in the Eco Challenge in Fiji,
dedicating each event to the memory of a fallen hero from the area where they competed.
He continued to work for veterans and his fellow Soldiers even while deployed,
organizing the 2004 24-hour Run for the Troops, a globally synchronized 24-hour run which raised funds for support packages for deployed service members.
The event occurred on 4 continents and in numerous states and countries. Hoffmeister ran his portion in 125 degree heat while stationed in Kuwait.
Since being wounded, LTC Hoffmeister has refocused his energy and efforts on the needs of wounded soldiers like himself.
He is currently the team leader of Operation Denali, an expedition of wounded warriors, to include two amputees, training to summit 20,320 ft Denali in June of 2009.
LTC Hoffmeister holds a Masters degree in Engineering Management from University of Missouri-Rolla and is a registered Professional Engineer in Missouri.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (2nd Award), Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (4th Award),
