Dick Brown retired after careers working as a metallurgist in a steel mill and then as a materials engineer / quality engineer for Ford Motor Company where he had work assignments in many of the plants of the Company's overseas operations.

He has been involved since Operation Desert Storm and now with Operation Enduring Freedom with groups preparing packages for the deployed troops. Working with ONF gives Dick the satisfaction that he is helping those who have been doing so much for our country.

Dick has been active in his parish's as well as a local interfaith group's peace and justice activities relative to hunger, genocide prevention, and environmental projects. He also has been involved in recent years with initiatives in two Big Ten Universities relative to introducing engineering students to the enjoyment of the performing arts.

Although he has been involved in mountain hiking and sea kayaking over the years, more recently he has become more involved in studies about and travel in the Arctic. One of Dick's daughters has done a voiceover for one of ONF's RTV advertisements and one son-in-law was a civilian trainer for the Squad Designated Marksman Program.
